Cecilia Kang, born in Buenos Aires in 1985 to South Korean immigrant parents, is an Argentine-Korean filmmaker whose work explores themes of migration, identity, and generational conflict; a graduate of ENERC, she first gained recognition with Mi último fracaso (2017) and Partió de mí un barco llevándome (2023), before making her fiction feature debut with Hijo Mayor (2025), a co-production between Argentina and France that follows a Korean-Argentine family navigating tradition and freedom, earning her the Best Emerging Director Award at the Locarno Film Festival and establishing her as a rising voice in Latin American cinema.
Lila, a young Korean-Argentinean girl, navigates the contradictions of her identity and tries to find her place in the world. Her father, Antonio, who arrived in South America 18 years ago, had decided to bet everything on the promise of a young immigrant's dream.
