Carla Simón (b. 1986, Barcelona) is a Spanish filmmaker whose work often explores family, childhood, and rural life. Orphaned at age six, she grew up in Catalonia and studied film at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Televisió de Catalunya, and the London Film School. Her debut Summer 1993 (2017) won Best First Feature at Berlinale. Her second feature Alcarràs (2022) won the Golden Bear at Berlinale, making her the first Catalan director to do so. Other works include Correspondence (2020) and Letter to My Mother for My Son (2022). Romería (2025) continues her exploration of family and memory
