M. T. Vasudevan Nair (1933–2024) was one of the greatest Malayalam writers and filmmakers, known for his deep explorations of Kerala’s culture and human emotions. Born in Kudallur, Kerala, he gained fame with Naalukettu (1958) and later Randamoozham (1984), his celebrated retelling of the Mahabharata from Bhima’s perspective. Alongside literature, he made a lasting mark in cinema, debuting with Murappennu (1965) and directing Nirmalyam (1973), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. His filmography includes classics like Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Kadavu, Sadayam, and Parinayam. Over his career, MT received four National Film Awards, numerous Kerala State Film Awards, the Jnanpith Award, the Padma Bhushan, and posthumously the Padma Vibhusha
