Maryam Touzani (b. 1980, Tangier) is a Moroccan filmmaker, actress, and screenwriter. She studied journalism in London before returning to Morocco. Her short When They Slept (2012) won multiple awards, followed by Aya Goes to the Beach (2015). Her debut feature Adam (2019) was Morocco’s Oscar entry. The Blue Caftan (2022) premiered at Cannes and was Morocco’s Oscar submission. Calle Málaga (2025) continues her exploration of gender, tradition, and identity
