Luc Dardenne, Jean-Pierre Dardenne

Luc (b. 1954) and Jean-Pierre (b. 1951), Belgian brothers. Known for realist dramas focusing on working-class lives. Films include La Promesse (1996), Rosetta (1999, Palme d’Or), The Child (2005, Palme d’Or), Two Days, One Night (2014), and Young Mothers (2025). They are among the few directors to win Cannes’ Palme d’Or twice

Synopsis

Housed in a shelter for young mothers, Jessica, Perla, Julia, Ariane, and Naïma, all of whom have grown up in difficult circumstances, struggle to obtain a better life for themselves and their children
