Simón Mesa Soto
Born 1986 in Medellín, Colombia. Studied at Universidad de Antioquia and London Film School. His short Leidi won the Palme d’Or at Cannes (2014). Later works include Madre (2016), Amparo (2021), and A Poet (2025). His films focus on Colombian social realities
Synopsis
Middle-aged and erratic, Oscar is a failed writer who has given up on life. Unemployed and living with family, he wanders the streets of Medellín in a drunken stupor, lamenting the state of literature in his home country. However, the opportunity to mentor a young student offers a chance at redemption, if he doesn’t screw it up first
