Garin Nugroho
Garin Nugroho (b. 1961, Yogyakarta) is one of Indonesia’s most acclaimed filmmakers, known for blending social critique with poetic storytelling. His works include Surat untuk Bidadari (1994), Opera Jawa (2006), Samsara (2024).
Synopsis
Puspa, a novice lawyer, defends poor people accused of petty crimes, confronting a corrupt legal system. Inspired by four real-life Indonesian lawsuits highlighting disproportionate punishments.
