Capturing the Festival: Celebrating Media Excellence

Cinema took centre stage, but the 30th IFFK 2025 also celebrated excellence in media coverage through its annual Media Awards, recognising outstanding contributions across print, television, online, and radio, and highlighting the crucial role of journalists in documenting and promoting the festival.

In the print category, The New Indian Express was honoured for its overall coverage, while Aravind S. Sasi of Kala Kaumudi received the Best Reporter Award. Aparna Nair (The New Indian Express) earned a Special Mention, and K. B. Jayachandran of Metro Vartha was recognised as Best Photographer for his evocative festival imagery.

On the television front, Doordarshan was awarded for overall coverage. Meghna Murali of 24 News took home the Best Reporter Award, Rahul G. Nath (Mathrubhumi News) earned a Special Mention, and Pradeep Paalavilaakam of Asianet News was lauded for Best Camera work.

Among online media outlets, Deshabhimani Online received recognition for overall coverage, while Asianet Online earned a Special Mention for its reporting.

In the radio category, Akashvani Thiruvananthapuram was awarded for overall coverage, with Radio Kerala (Kerala Media Academy, Kochi) receiving a Special Mention.

Through these awards, IFFK 2025 not only celebrated cinema but also acknowledged the essential role of media in bringing the festival to audiences far and wide, underscoring the best relationship between film and reportage.
