Saeed Akhtar Mirza (b. 1943) is an Indian director and screenwriter known for socially conscious films. His filmography includes Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan (1978), Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai (1980), Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! (1984), Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro (1989), and Naseem (1995). He also directed TV series like Nukkad and Intezaar.
Set in Mumbai, 1992, the film follows 15‑year‑old Naseem who lives with her grandfather. Through his stories of pre‑independence harmony, she witnesses the growing communal tensions leading to the Babri Masjid demolition.
