Saeed Akhtar Mirza (b. 1943) is an Indian director and screenwriter known for socially conscious films. His filmography includes Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan (1978), Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai (1980), Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! (1984), Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro (1989), and Naseem (1995). He also directed TV series like Nukkad and Intezaar.

Synopsis

Salim Pasha, a lame young man in 1980s Bombay, drifts into petty crime and communal violence with friends Peera and Abdul. He lives with his parents and sister, but his attempt at reform collides with systemic injustice. The film portrays the lure of crime, the impact of communalism, and the impossibility of redemption.
